Welcome to Jackie Allen's Starry Night Gala!

Since her debut recording in 1994, Never Let Me Go, Jackie Allen has toured the world from New York to Paris and Sao Paulo to Beijing, releasing seven more critically acclaimed CDs. (For more about Jackie see her Bio.) The concept for the Starry Night Gala project began over five years ago when Jackie was first approached by the Muncie Symphony Orchestra to sing as a guest artist in a Cole Porter Pops Gala event.  More recently she appeared at the Frank Gehry designed Pritzker Pavillion with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic in front of a crowd of 10,000.  The concerts were enormous successes and the idea of having symphonic arrangements written specifically for Jackie and her recording band was born.

The romantic concept of "star-themed" tunes was decided upon and old friends who also happened to be extraordinary arrangers and composers were asked if they would consider contributing their talents to the project. Suffice it to say that these arrangers are among the very, very best in the business and have arranged for the greatest stars including Duke Ellington, Doc Severinsen, Whitney Houston, Diana Krall, Buddy Rich, and Bobby McFerrin - to name but a few! (For more about the arrangers and performers see The Cast.)

Appropriately enough, the first Starry Night Gala will be the 60th Anniversary of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra as the opening to the 2008-09 season. This exclusive benefit event will be held in the 500-seat, acoustically perfect Sursa Hall on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. The concert will be recorded and CDs will be distributed to those who attend. The event will feature a champagne reception, silent auction, and some of the most creative, tasteful, engaging, intimate music heard on any stage!
